The Tragedy of Julius Caesar
Where Marc Antony and Brutus friends or foes to Julius Caesar?
Where Marc Antony and Brutus friends or foes to Rome?
It has often been debated about the true nature of the relationships Julius Caesar had with Marc Anthony and Brutus in the play, as well as the true intentions of these characters as it relates to their believed love from Rome. Some have viewed Marc Antony as a true friend and lover or Rome, and Brutus as a manipulating foe who only desired power. Other critiques have read the story and have viewed the complete opposite about these characters. The purpose of this blog is for you as students to answer the above mentioned questions, and to justify your answers using quotes and statements from this play. As you participate in the discussions, I want you to think about the nature of man. I want you to critically think about possible political implications of each of the character's renowned speeches that I have attached. Your job is to respond to the question and other student postings in a manner that will require
for you to think as a leader and a follower. Listen to these speeches and think about the power that was vacant after Caesar's death.
